Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Study

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Study

A new study looking at COPD is being carried out by NHS Lanarkshire and Tayside. This research study is being carried out to learn more about COPD and to investigate if treatment with a study drug can improve your symptoms of the disease.

COPD is the name for a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties. It includes:

Emphysema, which is damage to the air sacs in the lungs
Chronic Bronchitis, which is long-term inflammation of the airways

COPD is a common condition that mainly affects middle-aged or older adults who smoke. Many people do not realise they have it. Breathing problems tend to get gradually worse over time and can limit your normal activities, although treatment can help keep the condition under control.
