Researchers from the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian are looking for people aged 16-25 to take part in a new study called METPSY. The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of how our metabolic health (things like our blood sugar level, cholesterol or weight for example) are linked to our mental health.

The study involves 3 visits to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh spread over a 1-year period to complete some questionnaires, provide some blood samples, as well as using remote technology (glucose monitoring patch, activity wrist band, sleep monitor) to provide data on your metabolic health and sleep in your daily life.

We are looking for those without a diagnosis of a mental health condition and those with a diagnosis of a severe mental health condition i.e. major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.

Eligibility Criteria

·       Reliable internet connection

·       Access to your own smartphone

·       Diagnosis of a severe mental health condition i.e. major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, or no diagnosis of a mental health condition.
