Researchers at the University of Glasgow, in association with the charity Prostate Scotland, are inviting people diagnosed with prostate cancer to participate in a new study.

They are specifically looking for people living in remote and/or less affluent areas of Scotland, as defined by the Scottish Government. People with prostate cancer who live in such places are more likely to struggle with their health, and this study hopes to help inform health and social care services about how best to support them.

If you choose to take part, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire (~15 minutes) every week for 24 weeks, about how your diagnosis affects your ability to undertake day-to-day life activities. You will also be asked to complete an interview with the researchers (~45 minutes) every 8 weeks over the same period, to highlight and discuss any changes that are observed in the weekly questionnaires.

Participation requires no in-person visits; the researchers will conduct all interviews and surveys via online video call or over the phone. You may benefit from receiving a better understanding of your own health circumstances, as well as helping to influence prostate cancer care overall.

If you are interested in taking part and would like some more information, including whether your postcode is eligible for the study criteria, please get in touch with the SHARE Studies Team by email at [email protected].

If this study is not suitable for you, please consider registering for SHARE in any case, so that we can let you know about other studies which may be more relevant to you.
